What age groups do you cater for at Blackpool Basketball?
We welcome children aged 5 to 15 years old across all our basketball programmes. Our Sunday Junior Sessions, Day Camps, and Mid-Week Courses are designed for boys and girls of all abilities, from complete beginners to those with competitive experience.
Where are your basketball sessions held?
Our junior basketball coaching sessions take place at venues across the Fylde Coast, primarily Blackpool area.
Do you offer trial sessions?
Yes! We encourage new players to try a session before committing. Contact us to book a trial at our Sunday Junior Academy or Mid-Week Courses so your child can experience our coaching style and meet our team.
What makes Blackpool Basketball different from other clubs?

Booking & Registration
How do I book my child onto a programme?
You can register your child by visiting our Courses page and selecting your preferred programme (Sunday Sessions, Day Camps, or Mid-Week Courses), then completing the online booking form. Alternatively, contact us directly via our Contact page for assistance with registration.
Are places limited?
Yes. Our Mid-Week Junior Courses are capped at 15 players maximum to ensure high-quality, personalised coaching. Sunday Junior Sessions and Day Camps also have capacity limits, so we recommend booking early to avoid disappointment.
Can I pay in instalments?
Please visit our Pricing page for full payment options, or contact us to discuss instalment plans for longer programmes.
Do you offer sibling discounts?
Yes, we offer sibling discounts for families with multiple children attending our programmes. Contact us for specific discount rates.
Sunday Junior Sessions
What time do Sunday Junior Sessions run?
Our Sunday Junior Academy runs every Sunday during term time. Specific session times are confirmed upon registration based on age groups.
What does a typical Sunday session include?
Each session focuses on basketball fundamentals including dribbling, shooting, passing, and teamwork through fun drills, skills challenges, and small-sided games. Sessions are high-energy and suitable for all skill levels.
Can my child join mid-term?
Yes, children can join our Sunday Junior Sessions at any point during the term, subject to availability.
Day Camps
When do your basketball holiday camps run?
Our Blackpool Basketball Holiday Camps operate during school half-term breaks and longer holidays. Check our Day Camps page or contact us for the next available camp dates.
What's included in the Day Camps?
Our intensive holiday camps include expert coaching, competitive scrimmages, fitness challenges, skills development, and fun games. Players return to school sharper, fitter, and more confident.
What time do Day Camps start and finish?
Full camp schedules, including drop-off and collection times, are provided upon booking. We offer full-day programmes to accommodate working parents.
Do you provide lunch and snacks?
Parents are required to provide packed lunches and water bottles. We include scheduled breaks throughout the day.
Mid-Week Junior Courses
How long are the Mid-Week Courses?
Our Mid-Week Junior Courses run for 4–5 weeks, with one-hour sessions per week. These small-group programmes focus on advanced skill development in a supportive environment.
Are these courses suitable for beginners?
Yes! Our Mid-Week Courses welcome all abilities. Sessions are structured to challenge each player at their current level whilst building confidence and technique.
Are Mid-Week sessions available during school holidays?
Mid-Week Courses typically run during term time. For holiday programmes, please see our Day Camps offering.
Safety & Qualifications
Are your coaches qualified?
Absolutely. All our basketball coaches are professionally qualified sports tutors with extensive coaching experience. Every coach is fully insured, safeguarding-compliant, first-aid trained, and enhanced DBS checked.
What are your safeguarding policies?
We take child safety extremely seriously. All staff undergo enhanced DBS checks, and we follow strict safeguarding protocols in line with UK Sport England guidelines. Parents receive our full safeguarding policy upon registration.
What happens if my child gets injured?
All our coaches are first-aid trained and equipped to handle minor injuries. In the event of a more serious incident, parents/guardians are contacted immediately. We carry full public liability insurance.
Equipment & Kit
What should my child wear?
Players should wear comfortable sportswear (T-shirt, shorts/tracksuit bottoms) and clean, non-marking trainers suitable for indoor courts. We recommend bringing a water bottle to every session.
Do we need to buy a basketball?
No. We provide all basketballs and training equipment during sessions. However, players are welcome to bring their own basketball if they prefer.
Is there a club kit or uniform?
Whilst there's no mandatory uniform for recreational sessions, we do offer optional Blackpool Basketball branded kit for purchase. Details are provided to registered players.
Attendance & Cancellations
What if my child can't attend a session?
Please notify us as soon as possible if your child cannot attend a booked session. Our cancellation and make-up session policies are outlined in your registration confirmation.
Do you offer refunds?
Refund policies vary by programme. Please refer to our Terms & Conditions provided during booking, or contact us to discuss specific circumstances.
What happens if a session is cancelled due to bad weather or facility issues?
In the rare event we need to cancel a session, registered families will be notified immediately via email/text. We'll reschedule the session or offer a credit for future programmes.
Progression & Competitive Play
Does Blackpool Basketball offer a pathway to competitive basketball?
Yes! We provide a clear progression route from our recreational Sunday Sessions through to competitive club-level basketball. As players develop their skills and confidence, we guide them towards appropriate competitive opportunities.
Can my child progress to representing Blackpool Basketball in matches?
Talented and committed players who demonstrate readiness may be invited to join competitive squads or tournaments. Our coaches identify potential and discuss progression pathways with parents.

Do you work with schools in the Blackpool area?
